Posted by: Jonathan Desrosiers.

Well a new trimester means a new schedule for everyone. So it’s time to re-vote on what night works best for everyone for our bi-weekly meetings. Please vote for the day that works best for you. If there are other days that work as well, let us know! We read everyone’s comments.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

This post is for any past member that did not receive their Design 365 book from AIGA. If you were a paying member last year and did not receive your book, it is because your address was set to the school’s and it was shipped there. We have about 12-16 of them in a box in the WTCC.

If you let us know that you want your copy, and we have it, we will make sure you get it!

Bus Trip Date Moved Back

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Posted by: Jonathan Desrosiers.

After meeting with the people helping us plan the bus trip to New York City, we have decided to postpone the bus trip until December 11th. We decided to do so based on the following reasons:

  1. By moving the date, it gives us more time to go after available funding, and it will allow us to lower the cost of the trip per person.
  2. We will see a much more vibrant city. With December comes beautiful store window displays, and an extremely well decorated landscape.
  3. This will space out the expense further away from the $60 worth of fees for membership and club dues, allowing more people to go.
  4. We will also be able to try to collaborate with other schools and possibly have students from surrounding AIGA Student Chapters join us.

We are sorry for anyone that will be inconvenienced because of this change, especially if you took the day off from work. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask them. And come to the next meeting with stuff to discuss.

AIGA JWU / Relay For Life JWU Partnership

Friday, October 16th, 2009
Posted by: Jonathan Desrosiers.

Recently I was contacted by the Event Chair for Relay For Life of Johnson & Wales, Tracy Weaver. She expressed a real interest, and recognized the creative possibilities of our group teaming up with the event planning committee for JWU’s Relay For Life.

Here is a taste of what she mentioned:

“Here are a few things we are looking to create:

  • A JWU Relay specific logo (something that would incorporate aspects of the official American Cancer Society Relay logo but with a little JWU flare).
  • A t-shirt design for the committee to wear to promote the event and cause.
  • Any kind of poster designs we can get!  We are looking to do some event promo after the first of the year.  But we are also looking to do an informational/educational campaign on campus as well.”

Tracy will be attending one of our upcoming meetings to better explain what the committee is looking for, and even though the event is a long ways off, it is not too early to start brainstorming, and/or drafting designs.

If you are interested in participating and helping out with this cause here are some resources for you:

  1. Relay For Life Logo – The American Cancer Society’s Logo for the Relay for Life event.
  2. Johnson & Wales University Logo – JWU Crest Logo
  3. Johnson & Wales University Identity Guidelines – While we are not designing for official university print, it is good to have a familiarity with Johnson & Wales’ logo and font-face guidelines. Download the PDF

While we do not have specific guidelines for any of these things, feel free to draw up some ideas and get a head start!
