Mark Bevington got started about 10 years ago. He attended the University of Buffalo. And has a masters from Syracuse.

The name of Ninedot came from the nine dot game, and thinking outside the box.

Also on Friday November 4th, we are planning to attend the NYC AIGA 365 Gallery events. Concrete details still to come, but if you plan on attending we will most likely be leaving by 8AM to get to the city so we can get a jump on the day. Executive board members are trying to arrange ameet & greets with design firms in the city they visited last year.

At today’s presentation we had JWU Alumni Sam Kowalczyk come in and talk about projects and her time spent at the Business Innovation Factory. (Video of presentation to come!) Other presenters we are planning for the future are:
> Pete Cardoso – Does poster work for Lupo’s. He visited JWU last year thanks to Rob Erskine.
> 38 Studios – An entertainment and IP creation company in development on a broad range of products, including online and console video games, toys, novels, comics, film, TV, and other forms of digital media.
> Dan MacKinnon – JWU Alumni & Founder and President of Sub Culture Marketing.

Dues – something that is probably on everybody’s minds. The dues for this years groups are as follows:
> $20 to be apart of ONLY the AIGA JWU Chapter
> $50 for the National AIGA dues
We know that being a college a student and having lots of money isn’t something that goes together so well, so we gave options to still be apart of AIGA even if you can’t pay the national dues.

An idea that came up during our meeting was trying to hold an AIGA Jack O’ Lantern carving session out on Gaebe Commons possibly!

New & old members PLEASE do not be afraid to email or message on of the Executive Board members (Rob Erskine, Michelle Nutter, Andrew Calipa, Veronica Morena, Mike Pierce & Sarah Dillonaire) for ANY possible ideas you might have for fundraisers, speakers or field trips. We would love to hear from you!

Professor Karyn Jimenez will be giving a detailed and instructive demonstration on a very popular form of hand printing, lino-blocking and spray paint stenciling, Tuesday December 14th at 6:00pm in Westminister Conference Center in the Academic Center. Also be sure to come hungry cause there will be free pizza.

This will be a very informative and creative event that will help in future projects. It’s good to break away from the printer and do something with your hands, the results are amazing and it feels incredible to see the end result.

Lino-blocking, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum(sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for the relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a press (from wikipedia).

The event will now be taking place at PEPSI FORUM. NOT Xavier Auditorium like previously announced. There are technical issues in Xavier that will not be fixed before the performance.

Very important post vacation meeting! We will be planning all of the details for our Comedy Fundraiser. Please do everything you can to make it to this meeting. If you want to, or know someone that wants to donate items to be raffled off at the comedy fundraiser, please either bring it, or let us know.

If you are going to be designing a poster for the event, please have it submitted by this meeting. If you are not going to make it to this meeting, please shoot an email to aigajwu@gmail.com and make sure that you register to be a part of our Relay For Life Team.

Design a poster for the event!

Posters must have:

1. The event date and time (March 18th, 6:00pm-9:30pm)
2. A description about the event (First hour is a student design gallery. 7pm the stand up show begins)
3. Include the location (Pepsi Forum)
4. The stand up show is hosted by Jonathan Desrosiers, and Derek Furtado, John Porch, Kelly Morse, and Mike Murray will be performing.
5. Tickets are just $5!
6. Raffle tickets will be sold at the door for some great prizes.
7. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Relay For Life on behalf of our team.
8. Please design using 300dpi.
9. Design should be 16X20

We will choose a poster submission to represent the group event all around campus. Winner will also receive a signed poster by the 4 comics.
