Final Meeting & Important Reminders!

posted by: Kyla Covert on May 3rd, 2010

Hey guys, mark your calendars because our last meeting will be held on Monday, May 10 at 6:00 in the WTCC. Please plan on being there because we have many important items to discuss!

Note that elections for next year’s board will take place. Positions available include:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Community Service

If you are interested in any of these positions, or would like more information on what each position’s responsibilities are, please email Kyla at kylacovert@gmail.com ASAP.

We hope that the club will continue to remain active next year after we’ve graduated!

Also note that we are currently still searching for your membership cards (we think that JWU lost them in their mail service)…we hope to have them for Monday’s meeting, so make sure to come to pick them up!

Again, Monday, May 10 at 6:00 in the WTCC – it is our last meeting, and we hope that you all can come!

Design By Humans Contests

posted by: Samantha Kowalczyk on March 23rd, 2010

Hey guys, just a heads up on a contest I thought you’d be interested in.

They’re called “Facebook Challenges” by DBH. New contests run every 2 weeks or so.

This week, the challenge is to make a word look like the word it is.
There’s $100 prize money for both the fan fave and staff pick. It’s also a fun little way to flash your name around.
Have fun! =]

Assembling an Effective Portfolio

posted by: Robert Erskine on March 23rd, 2010

Various Portfolio Forms:

  1. Portfolio Box:
A well constructed portfolio box, available in standard sizes such as 16″ x 20″, 14″ x 17″, and 11″ x14, is a relatively quick and painless presentation. Pieces are recommended to be mounted on black or gray foam core boards. A large box will allow a large collection without having to reduce pieces. A smaller box is easier to travel with and is simple to store.
  2. Bound Portfolio:
A bound portfolio creates a very professional and holistic presentation of your work. Project images will need to be reduced in size and restricted to paper but the finished project is often quite impressive. Process work can be incorporated in the page design to show the development of projects.
  3. An Online Experience:
Sending your book to as many people as possible is optimal. This is difficult when making physical forms of work, however sending a URL to a person is as easy as setting up a laptop in a Starbucks. Read the rest of this entry »
